The half-day festival held in Balboa Park on Saturday, April 25, 2009 features students performing sonnets and scenes from the works of Shakespeare as well as demonstrate dance, vocal and instrumental music, juggling, puppetry, etc. The Festival begins with opening ceremonies declaring the festival open, by the queen.  Following the opening, a procession flows from the Organ Pavilion to the performance venues on the Prado.  The day concludes with the awards ceremony.

Each participating school will be assigned a 15-minute time slot which includes 5 minutes to set-up and strike. Groups may select a scene from any Shakespearean play: they may put together several cuttings from a Shakespearean play, or they may create a theatrical collage of music, dance, sonnets, scenes, etc.  Awards will be given to the best performer in each scene.   Every school is a winner!
