March 2: Shakespeare Sampler (Free Talk/Performance)

Please join us for our Speaking of Shakespeare lecture series at the Mission Valley Library from 12:30-2:00pm.  It’s free and open to the public.

Special guests include two ESU finalists, Carson McCalley and Laura Parker

March 2nd will be called the “Shakespeare Sampler” because we will have a series of performances to represent the programs we will bring you throughout 2013.  We are working on bringing you fresh student talent from the English Speaking Union Shakespeare monologue competition plus students preparing for our annual student festival.  We plan to have actors performing sonnets and brief Shakespeare scenes and to give you a summary of some of our exciting plans for the year.

Support the society and get a bit of free theatre by coming out to the event.  We promise you new Shakespearean thrills.

Student Festival Coming Soon!

Audience Watching a Scene

We are counting down the weeks until our annual Student Shakespeare Festival.  Keep an eye on this page (or subscribe to our blog or newsletter) to get all the details on the excitement.

Shakespeare’s Birthday:  in the lead up to the Festival, we’ll be celebrating the Bard’s Birthday with a party on April 21.  Members get first chance at a seat in this limited seating event.

Join the Festival: The Student Festival is April 27th in Balboa Park.  You can still sign up your class, club, theatre group, or home school students to participate.  Anyone under the age of 18 who is from San Diego County may participate.

Moscow Schools:  We are proud to announce special guest performances at the Festival this year.  Two schools from Moscow are arranging to fly from Russia to perform their ten minute scenes as part of the festival.  This is a great chance for students from two countries to share their love of theatre, Shakespeare, and literature together.  Don’t miss it!
