 The Mystery?
Scandal, Intrigue, Secret Societies, CONSPIRACY….

The long awaited AUTHORSHIP DEBATE is BACK and this time it is more FUN and cutting-edge than ever.  Let’s examine the evidence.  Who could it have been?  Christopher Marlowe, Sir Francis Bacon or even H.M. Queen Elizabeth I herself?  Celeste Innocente (Chronos Theatre)  will defend William Shakespeare against Jack Winans (SDSS Board Member and all round good-egg), representing Edward de Vere, The 17th Earl of Oxford.

Jack and Celeste will go head to head and then YOU (yes, YOU) will all be able to chip in with some tough questions, thought-provoking ideas and perhaps some exciting ideas of your own.

We want to hear from you.  We want you to come along and join in the fun.  Bring your Complete Works with you.  We’re looking for actual and textual evidence.  A new way to inspect the bard and have a lot of fun with the San Diego Shakespeare Society.

Moderator: Vanessa Schneider, Artistic Director, SDSS

San Diego Shakespeare Society
Shakespeare and Music Event
The Neurosciences Institute, La Jolla
November 17th 2008

The San Diego Shakespeare Society is happy and proud to be returning to the Neurosciences Institute in La Jolla for their second annual Shakespeare And Music Event.

Last year we delved into the mind of the Elizabethan and Jacobean playwright to discover how music was used for dramatic effect.  This year, we intend to take a different approach, exploring the music of Shakespeare’s plays, with focus on purposes of the songs he wrote.  We’ll take a look at Clown Songs, Court Songs, Drinking Songs, Masked Balls and all manner of other courtly frivolity.  Performers will include  acclaimed early music group, Courtly Noyse and returning to this event, Vox Nobili.

DIRECTED BY VANESSA DINNING,
ARTISTIC DIRECTOR, SAN DIEGO SHAKESPEARE SOCIETY.

THE NEUROSCIENCES INSTITUTE IS PROUD TO HOST THIS PERFORMANCE AS PART OF PERFORMING ARTS AT THE NEUROSCIENCES INSTITUTE, A SERIES OF CULTURAL EVENTS PRESENTED AS A COMMUNITY SERVICE TO SUPPORT THE ARTS IN SAN DIEGO AND TO UNDERSCORE THE SPECIAL RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE ARTS AND THE BRAIN.
